A premium automotive technical poster dedicated to the 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 6.0 AMG — one of the most formidable interpretations of the C126 luxury coupé and a defining example of AMG engineering from the company’s independent era. This artwork presents the 560 SEC 6.0 AMG in a clean factory technical-document style, combining precise front, side, rear and overhead views with dimensional references and a detailed representation of its extensively modified V8 engine. The Mercedes-Benz C126 Introduced as the coupé derivative of the W126 S-Class, the C126 combined Mercedes-Benz luxury, engineering and long-distance refinement with a distinctive pillarless two-door body. The SEC became one of the defining European grand touring coupés of the 1980s, with restrained styling, substantial dimensions and powerful V8 engines. Before AMG became part of Mercedes-Benz, the independent Affalterbach specialist transformed selected SEC models into significantly more powerful and visually aggressive machines. The 560 SEC 6.0 AMG The 560 SEC 6.0 AMG represents one of the most extreme developments of the C126 platform. Starting with the flagship 560 SEC, AMG extensively modified the V8 engine, increased displacement to approximately 6.0 litres and, in its most celebrated configuration, employed bespoke four-valve cylinder heads. Combined with AMG suspension, wheels, aerodynamic components and optional widebody bodywork, the result was a dramatically different machine from the standard production coupé. 6.0-Litre DOHC V8 At the heart of the car is AMG’s extensively developed 90-degree V8. Displacement was increased to approximately 6.0 litres, while the four-valve conversion used dual overhead camshafts and 32 valves. In period specifications, output varied according to configuration, but approximately 385 PS is commonly associated with the 6.0-litre four-valve version represented here. The conversion transformed the character of the already powerful SEC, giving AMG’s flagship coupé performance that was exceptional for a large luxury car of its era. Front-Engine, Rear-Wheel-Drive Architecture The V8 is mounted longitudinally beneath the long bonnet and drives the rear wheels. The large overhead technical illustration reveals the engine installation while emphasizing the classic proportions of the C126: a long front section, spacious passenger compartment and substantial rear body. Four-Speed Automatic Transmission Power is transmitted through a four-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. Rather than abandoning the luxury character of the original SEC, AMG combined dramatically increased performance with the automatic transmission and grand-touring configuration of the Mercedes-Benz flagship coupé. AMG Widebody One of the most recognizable configurations of the 560 SEC 6.0 AMG is the Widebody. Extended wheel arches accommodate wider wheels and tires, while AMG-specific aerodynamic components give the otherwise elegant C126 a substantially more aggressive stance. The transformation remains closely integrated with the original Bruno Sacco-era Mercedes-Benz design rather than fundamentally changing the coupé’s proportions. Technical Dimensions Wheelbase: 2850 mm Overall length: Approximately 4935 mm Overall height: Approximately 1400 mm Body: AMG Widebody The long 2850 mm wheelbase and nearly five-metre overall length emphasize the car’s grand-touring origins despite its exceptional performance. Performance The approximately 6.0-litre DOHC 32-valve V8 produces around 385 PS in the specification represented here. Period performance figures vary between individual AMG conversions and specifications, but top speed is commonly quoted in the region of approximately 285–290 km/h, with 0–100 km/h acceleration around 6 seconds. These figures placed the modified SEC among the fastest luxury coupés of its period. Independent-Era AMG Cars such as the 560 SEC 6.0 belong to an important period in AMG history, before the company became formally integrated with Mercedes-Benz. AMG operated as an independent engineering and tuning specialist, meaning specifications could vary significantly according to customer requirements. Engine configuration, bodywork, wheels, interior trim and chassis modifications were not necessarily identical from one completed vehicle to another. Detailed Technical Composition The artwork includes true front and rear elevations, a large side profile and an oversized orthographic top view. The overhead illustration exposes the modified V8 beneath the bonnet while preserving the distinctive pillarless C126 architecture. Engine, transmission, dimensional and performance information is organized along the lower section in the style of period engineering documentation. An Affalterbach-inspired AMG technical inspection stamp completes the archival presentation. Specifications Model: Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 6.0 AMG Series: C126 Year: 1989 Engine: AMG-modified 90° V8 Displacement: Approximately 6.0 L Valve train: DOHC / 32-valve Power: Approximately 385 PS Engine position: Front longitudinal Transmission: 4-speed automatic Drive: Rear-wheel drive Wheelbase: 2850 mm Overall length: Approximately 4935 mm Overall height: Approximately 1400 mm Body: AMG Widebody Top speed: Approximately 285–290 km/h 0–100 km/h: Approximately 6.0 seconds Because these cars were individually modified by AMG during its independent era, exact technical specifications can differ between individual examples. The poster makes a distinctive decorative piece for a garage, workshop, office, studio, living room or automotive collection. Its technical-document aesthetic is particularly suited to enthusiasts of classic Mercedes-Benz engineering, early AMG history and high-performance European grand tourers. A technical celebration of one of the most extraordinary cars associated with independent-era AMG — combining the elegance of the C126 SEC with a hand-developed 6.0-litre four-valve V8, rear-wheel drive and unmistakable Widebody presence. The poster will be carefully packed for shipping to ensure safe delivery.
