Todas las subastas / Vehículos / Shmidt.Art - Ferrari - Rampanza del Cavallino
This work is dedicated to one of the most recognizable symbols in global motorsport: Ferrari’s Cavallino Rampante. More than a simple artistic depiction, the painting serves as both a visual and technical exploration, carefully capturing the correct angle, proportions, and orientation of the official emblem. The artwork is produced in A1 poster format, making it an ideal statement piece for display. The origin of the prancing horse The famous black horse did not originate with Ferrari, but dates back to World War I. It was originally used as a personal insignia by Italian fighter pilot Francesco Baracca, who painted a rearing horse on his aircraft. After his death in 1918, the symbol became a lasting tribute to his legacy. Years later, Enzo Ferrari recalled a pivotal encounter after a victory at the Savio circuit, when Baracca’s parents suggested he adopt the emblem as a sign of good luck for his racing cars. On July 9, 1932, during the 24 Hours of Spa, Scuderia Ferrari’s Alfa Romeo cars first displayed the Cavallino Rampante, marking the moment when the airborne symbol transitioned to the racetrack. About the artwork This piece focuses on a detail that is often overlooked: the precise forward tilt of the horse. This subtle inclination plays a key role in the emblem’s identity, conveying motion, controlled power, and a sense of forward momentum. The horse appears dynamic rather than static, embodying speed and ambition. The neutral background and structured composition highlight the geometry and balance of the design, allowing viewers to appreciate the harmony between tradition, form, and historical accuracy. Every element has been carefully rendered to remain faithful to the official silhouette. A timeless symbol Since its adoption, the Cavallino Rampante has evolved into far more than a logo. It represents victory, performance, and Italian heritage. Featured on every car produced in Maranello, it reflects a deep passion for racing and engineering excellence. This artwork is a tribute to a symbol born in wartime, elevated through competition, and transformed into a global icon—an ideal piece for collectors, automotive enthusiasts, and admirers of Ferrari’s legacy.
