Impressive large-format sculptural crucifix rendered in golden metal, conceived with a pronounced Brutalist and Modernist aesthetic, and inspired by the renewing religious iconography developed by Salvador Dalí around Christ of Saint John of the Cross. The composition deliberately departs from the traditional crucifix. The figure of Christ appears modeled in pronounced relief and integrates into a spectacular abstract structure formed by irregular extensions, cutouts, and pointed elements projecting in different directions, creating a piece of great dynamism and depth. Of particular interest is the contrast between the figurative modeling of Christ's body and the free and expressive treatment of the cross, whose surface features rough textures and organic forms characteristic of Brutalist decorative sculpture from the second half of the 20th century. Its three-dimensional construction causes the piece to stand considerably away from the wall, producing attractive plays of light and shadow that modify its appearance depending on the viewing point. In terms of its sculptural language and formal characteristics, it can be prudently placed in Spain, roughly during the 1970s-1980s, within the production of Modernist religious art influenced by surrealist reinterpretations of Christian iconography. It bears no visible signature, and is presented as a work by an unknown author inspired by Salvador Dalí, with no attribution of its execution to the artist. It remains in vintage good condition, its golden finish and the complexity of its reliefs still appealing. The photographs show in detail both the front and the rear construction and are part of the condition description.
