One of the strongest images in Shepard Fairey's graphic output, Oil Lotus Woman pairs his instantly recognizable visual language with a powerful environmental message. The female figure, constructed with the bold forms and contrasts characteristic of the artist, is set within a lush, symbolic vegetal world. Fairey uses the portrait here as an image of awareness and responsibility in facing environmental issues.
