Exceptional and indivisible set of four deep porcelain plates (soup plates) for export porcelain to the European market (East India Company). They belong to the Qing Dynasty (18th century). They feature the classic Imari decoration with cobalt blue underglaze and oxide red over glaze. The central design shows an elegant asymmetric arrangement of peonies and foliage, surrounded by a geometric border on the rim. Condition: Very good overall condition for their age. They do not have hairs, cracks, or chipping (piquetes) on the edges. As is customary and a guarantee of their original manual craftsmanship, the reverses show the classic unglazed base ring with slight firing irregularities and a minuscule glaze skip from firing on one of the bases. Front glaze is very bright and well preserved.
