Set of bowls in pressed glass. One large and 4 small. This set of bowls strongly evokes the style of the 1930s and 1940s, with a strong influence from the Art Deco period. The cannelé texture (ribbed): the clean geometric vertical ribs are a signature feature of Art Deco housewares, used to give rhythm and reflect light. The metallic and dark colors: The pairing of black/dark brown with gold or bronze recreates that sophisticated and somewhat theatrical elegance typical of interiors in the first half of the century. Murano Artistic Glass with Aventurina (1950s - 1970s). In Italy, and especially in Murano, the pairing of a heavy brown/amber colored glass (often called smoked or topaz) with swirling internal bronze or gold-toned inclusions is typical of the period between the 1950s and 1970s. The glassmakers (like the historic Barovier & Toso or Salviati glassworks) melted inside the glass mass a shiny metallic powder (aventurine paste or gold-leaf). This created those spectacular warm, coppery light effects inside the bowl that contrasted with the dark, elegant silhouette of the piece. Dimensions Large bowl 23x8.5 cm Small bowls 11x4.5 cm
