Sericho Pallasite Meteorite Pendant in Sterling Silver Setting

Space, Main Group Pallasite meteorite, found near Sericho, Isiolo County, Kenya. Formed ca. 4.5 billion years ago. A striking pendant set with a polished slice of the Sericho pallasite, one of the most celebrated meteorite finds of recent years. The window reveals a dense mosaic of olivine crystals in rich tones of amber, cognac, honey and deep garnet-brown. They are suspended in a lustrous silver-grey matrix of nickel-iron, traced with fine metallic veins. The slice is framed in a bright sterling silver bezel with a polished bail and hangs from a golden textile ribbon. Pallasites are among the rarest and most beautiful of all meteorites, accounting for only a tiny fraction of known falls and finds. They are thought to form at the boundary between the metal core and rocky mantle of a differentiated asteroid, shattered by an ancient collision early in the solar system’s history. Sericho is prized for its high olivine content and the warm, translucent glow of its crystals, which light up dramatically when held to the light. A wearable fragment of a long-lost protoplanet, older than the Earth itself. Item # 204987
