A face is revealed through layers of color, marks and traces that seem to surface from a deeper dimension. The lines define the contours, while the pigments spread, overlap and dissolve, interrupting the figure and transforming it. Color is not only surface, but memory, emotion and a fragment of an identity in continual evolution. In this work, Serena Grassetti explores the distance between what we show to the world and what we keep inside us. The face becomes a space where strength and vulnerability, control and spontaneity, presence and dissolution coexist. Imperfections, drips and marks do not seek to hide what is incomplete, but to reveal its beauty. SERENA GRASSETTI — CONTEMPORARY ARTIST Serena Grassetti is an Italian contemporary artist whose research investigates the complexity of the human being, exploring identity, memory, fragility and inner transformation through a personal and multidisciplinary artistic language. Daughter of art, trained at the Istituto d’Arte di Macerata, she has developed over the years a deep knowledge of the material and its expressive possibilities, experimenting with painting, sculpture, modeling, resins, charcoal and techniques related to Natural Art. This experience forms the foundation of a practice in which the material is not a mere support, but an integral part of the meaning of the work. At the center of her inquiry is the body understood as a psychological and symbolic space: a presence capable of expressing what words cannot. Through incomplete figures, gestures laden with tension and forms that oscillate between presence and dissolution, Grassetti gives visual substance to the deepest states of human experience. Her work is part of the international dialogue of sculpture and contemporary figurative art, in thematic relation with the research of Rabarama, Berlinde De Bruyckere and Xiang Jing, while the comparison with Andy Warhol, Banksy and KAWS opens a reflection on the different ways in which contemporary art interprets identity and the human condition. With works presented in exhibition contexts in Italy and abroad, Serena Grassetti develops a research aimed at overcoming superficial representation to reach a more intimate and universal dimension. Her poetics rests on a fundamental principle: give form to what is not seen, but which profoundly determines what we are.
