DESCRIPTION Interesting rural landscape by Sebastià Congost i Pla, a painter closely tied to the Escola d’Olot tradition. The composition represents a Catalan farmhouse set in the middle of a wide green meadow, with several small human figures working or moving through the field. In the background there is a sequence of mountains built with greens, blues and violets, while the clear sky introduces brightness and openness in the upper area. The architecture occupies the center of the composition and acts as the main focal point. From 1940 he developed extensive exhibition activity in Catalonia, Spain and France. His production focused mainly on landscape, though he also painted urban scenes, markets, figures and religious works. His pictorial language is characterized by a progressive simplification of form, spontaneous brushwork, and a strong attention to color.
