Sculpture, Masque léopard en bronze à patine verte - 32 cm - Patinated bronze

Description Imposing bronze zoomorphic mask, depicting a feline head reminiscent of a leopard, an animal particularly present in the iconography of several cultures of West and Central Africa. The face features very rich decoration, composed of raised circular motifs, punctuations and long incisions highlighting the cheeks. The stretched eyes, large ears and prominent snout give the mask an expression that is both powerful and stylized. The upper part is particularly original: it is topped by a small three-dimensional feline, with a slim silhouette and a long curved tail. This element reinforces the sculptural and spectacular character of the whole. The bronze has a beautiful green patina nuanced with dark tones, which brings out the reliefs and many details of the casting. The surface irregularities contribute to the piece's artisanal character. Sold without a base!
