Splendid vintage porcelain sculpture vase, hand-painted, an excellent example of Italian popular artistic ceramics from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s/60s). The piece depicts an elegant lady in period attire standing beside a majestic open-shell structure that functions as a flower vase. The design stands out for an original stylistic contrast: the sinuous forms and the finish with a glossy iridescent glaze frame a skirt decorated with a bold abstract geometric pattern in colored checks, a clear nod to the graphic influences of Mid-Century design in the postwar era. Attributed to the refined manufacturing tradition of northern Italy (Bassano/Nove area), the object is presented in exceptional conservation: completely intact, with no chips, hairlines, or restorations. The base is smooth and bears no signatures or marks, as is typical of many artisanal furniture productions of the era intended for gentlemen’s parlors.
