Schema no.16 - Rick Wedel

Schema no.16 by Rick Wedel Painting 24.0 x 48.0 :: Seeking optimism and inner-light. The Schema series includes both lengthy paintings as well as spontaneous single-session pieces like this one. The emphasis is on gesture and enjoying the active part of painting. This is how I've usually approached small hand-held paintings. This life-sized figure is the first time a larger painting came together in the same way. It's an exciting way to work and the composition never feels bogged down or over-thought. Art in the time of Covid19 has made me seek the optimism of an upward-facing gaze.
