Initially trained at the Dibujo (Drawing) School of his hometown and solidified artistically at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts under the tutelage of Jean-Léon Gérôme, Diranian managed to fuse rigorous European academic technique with a lyrical fascination for the aesthetics of the Middle East.
