Collier Saint Georges et le Dragon – Victory over Adversity – Obsidian. A necklace in obsidian bearing the medal of Saint George slaying the dragon, emblem of knightly bravery forged to overcome adversity and make justice triumph in the face of trials. Before the ramparts of the city of Silène, a creature rising from the marshes imposes its terror and demands each day its tribute of innocents. When all hope seems annihilated, Saint George, military tribune and knight of Cappadocia, rushes forward without hesitation to confront the monster. Armed only with his spear and strengthened by the sign of the cross, he tames the beast to deliver the people from oppression and restore the light. Immortalized through the centuries by the Golden Legend, this knightly feat stands as the universal model of victory of righteousness over chaos. On this crest, Saint George charges on horseback, arm raised and spear aimed at the fallen enemy, sealing the triumph of valor over fear and dark threats. Wearing this sacred medal means seizing the heroic spirit of the patron saint of chivalry: a shield of honor and courage to face daily challenges and keep an advantage over any form of hostility. Dimensions: - necklace length: 53.7 cm. - weight: 42.7 g. - obsidian beads: ~6 mm. - intricately worked silvered metal pendant: 4 × 3.5 cm (excluding the bail). Spring clasp stamped Sterling 925. Ring in Sterling 925. Mounted on a Japanese steel wire nylon-coated. Collar crafted with care by hand. History & Secrets of the Symbol: Saint George and the City of Silène: The Triumph of the Golden Legend Recorded in the 13th century by Jacobus de Voragine in the Golden Legend, Saint George’s victory over the dragon became the foundational epic of Western knighthood. Venerated as the supreme patron of protectors and defenders of justice, the saint embodies the sacred duty to step in to defend the most vulnerable. The Lance and the White Horse: The Attributes of Uprightness In medieval iconography, Saint George’s white steed represents purity of intention and noble conduct. The spear — named Ascalon in heroic tales — stands for decisive, prompt, and righteous action that neutralizes danger at its root without ever deviating from its principles. The Dragon Slain: Mastery of Adversity In sacred symbolism, the dragon crushed beneath the horse’s hooves represents disorder, discord, and destructive covetousness. Its submission under the saint’s guard asserts that no obstacle is insurmountable for one who advances with determination and moral integrity. Obsidian: The Mineral Shield and Spiritual Protection Recognized in protection traditions as a major defensive stone, obsidian acts as a barrier against malice, toxic intentions, and oppressive atmospheres. Renowned for dispelling doubts, it supports steadfastness of soul and helps the wearer to show exemplary composure in every challenge. The stills were taken under LED lighting with dedicated photographic equipment to reproduce with precision the details, reliefs, and nuances of the object. Some precious and semi-precious stones may be subjected to traditional treatments to enhance their color or clarity. No specific gemological examination has been performed on this piece.
