Saint-Aubin French Iron Meteorite - 48 g

Hello. I am Pierre ANTONIN (SP-Meteorites), project leader of the Saint-Aubin meteorite research project in France since 2018, more information on my website. Saint Aubin is a iron meteorite, classified Iron IIIAB with a magnificent octahedrite structure and many inclusions of troilite and schreibersite. I specialize in the treatment/restoration of iron meteorites, and since 2019 I have been working on the stabilization process by subcritical fluids (high pressure/high temperature dechloration) which achieves a level of stability never reached before. This meteorite sold in a 9x9 cm box with stand has benefited from this treatment. My clients are private collectors, professionals and museums such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. All my iron meteorites are guaranteed stabilized, an authenticity certificate is provided and I prioritize the quality of work and after-sales service which is ensured for all my clients. TIPS FOR COLLECTORS: PURCHASE: Iron meteorites are susceptible to degradation by oxidation. Before buying, carefully check the condition of the surfaces that display the Widmanstätten pattern. Be vigilant if there are traces of oxides, as this can deteriorate; prefer faces without oxidation and without thick varnish, and don't hesitate to zoom in on photos. For complete meteorites, prefer an appearance without pulverulent oxidations or drips, signs of instability, even surfaces that have preserved a natural patina must be dry and healthy. Favor sellers who offer guarantees on the stability of meteorites and after-sales service if needed. PRESENTATION: All photos are taken in-studio with artificial lighting and are not retouched to obtain a rendering as close to reality as possible. The scale cube measures 1x1 cm. To achieve the same look at home, I recommend presentation in a display case with appropriate white lighting. STORAGE: Store your iron meteorites in the open air or in a display case with relative humidity not exceeding an average of 50 to 60%. If you are in a very humid area or near the sea, store your meteorites in airtight boxes with desiccant to protect them from oxidation. HANDLING: Handle your meteorites preferably with gloves, avoiding touching the revealed faces (apparent structure) which can be contaminated by the acidic and salty sweat present on your fingers. Thank you for your trust. Pierre.
