2 × Rybo Rykken Kengu Lounge Chairs – Norway – Mid-Century Modern – Black leather and bentwood Description: This distinctive pair of Kengu lounge chairs was made by Rybo Rykken & Co. in Norway. The visible manufacturer stamp “RYKKEN & CO A – MADE IN NORWAY” on the wooden frame confirms the Norwegian origin. The model is associated with Scandinavian furniture design of the 1960s and 1970s and is attributed to Elsa and Nordahl Solheim. The chairs combine generously upholstered seating and back surfaces with a distinctive button tufting and elegantly curved wooden frames. The organic lines give the construction a dynamic, almost hovering presence. The contrast between the warm wood tone and the dark upholstery emphasizes the sculptural character of the design.
