Rondout, New York. 1875 $10 Fr. 416. The NB. Charter #1120. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ. Nothing short of a riveting testament to the visual distinctiveness of "First Charter" National Bank Notes. This lightly handled $10 National Bank Note issued under the Series of 1875 by the National Bank of Rondout (Charter# 1120) is a veritable testament to exceptional originality and eye appeal. Here one may effortlessly behold a veritable exhibition of premium qualities that echo the day this note was issued during the early 1890s. From penned signatures attributable to Cashier John B. Alliger and President Abraham Hasbrouck to crisp detail found throughout the design, bidders would be wise to note that these qualities are honestly secondary against a comment for "Great Color." The nature of this comment is perhaps best demonstrated by two elements. The first of these is the crimson overprint that deftly contrasts against the vignettes seen at left and right while the second is exemplified by the engraved adaptation of William Henry Powell's painting De Soto Discovering the Mississippi which captures exceptional detail exemplified by a gradient of neutral tones that are sure to distinguish this veritable gem from Ulster County in the eyes of bidders. PMG comments "New England Trim." Noted for "Great Color" by PMG. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
