Roda Leonardo Roda (1868-1933) - Dolci pensieri sotto al glicine - cm 96 x 146

Stunning work by the painter Roda Leonardo Roda (Racconigi, 1868 – Turin, 1933) was masterfully painted in oil on canvas in good condition. The painting measures 80x125 cm. The frame is original to the period. Leonardo Roda was self-taught, refining his craft under the guidance of Mario Cardellini, devoted to landscape painting, initially at the tourist port during his frequent visits to the Ligurian Riviera. From the Ligurian Riviera of the Levant to the Ponant Sea (especially the town of Bordighera, where he made friends and avid collectors), and to the French Riviera. Here we recall the titles of some of his works: Tra Celle e Albissola (1899), Riviera di Levante (exhibited in Turin, 1889), Costa Azzurra (1907), partì per la pesca, lungo la marina degli ulivi, in il mare a Bordighera. Lover of the mountains, an alpinist and botanist, he painted multiple versions of Valtournenche and Monte Cervino (the Matterhorn), tied to seasonal and atmospheric changes. Consequently, landscapes are actually his sole subject and in some of his creations he adds elements of real life. From 1889 to 1924 he regularly exhibited at the Initiator of Turin and from 1895 to 1925 at the Circolo degli Artisti of Turin. Leonardo Roda participated in exhibitions in Turin (1896, Sponde della Stura; 1898, Il Cervino), Florence (1896-1897, Nebbia in montagna and Dopo la pioggia) and Milan (1900, 1906). Some of his works: "Sunshine", "Nomadic Life", "Quiet Corner", were acquired by the Società di Belle Arti di Torino in 1914.
