He is best known for his evocative depictions of coastal landscapes, sailing ships, and maritime scenes, which are classified within realism and the romantic late phase of landscape painting. His paintings are characterized by meticulous execution, finely tuned lighting, and an atmospheric portrayal of sky and water. Gleich’s works often explore the interplay of natural forces and human presence, appearing in the form of fishing boats, harbor views, or tranquil seascapes.
