It was born in 1954 from the creative genius of Giovanni Gariboldi, an apprentice model maker of Gio Ponti and subsequently Creative Director of the Manufacture who, redefining the idea of verticality, geometric rigor and utility, designs every element to be stackable and to create symmetric compositions that can be stored in compact spaces. With its stackability, vertical modularity and refined curves, the collection won the prestigious Compasso d'Oro design award in 1954: the jury awarded the prize for the purity of the form created - the sincerity of the Form. Colonna embodied with elegance the needs and desires of a new and modern Italy. The characteristic of stackability of Colonna is not just a matter of efficiency, but it was a statement of aesthetics and modern life. IMPORTANT NOTE: in 2024 Richard Ginori reproduced in the same style and format Gariboldi's service; it was available for €2000.00, currently sold out. The service offered at auction is instead original, dating from the 1950s and 1960s, stamped with the blue and green Richard Ginori mark. Very rare!
