Reliquary - Brass, Glass, Textile - 1800-1850 - 12 relics of the Holy Apostles

Prestigious oval reliquary made of brass worked with a corded edge, dating from the 19th century. Inside the display case, protected by the original slightly convex glass, is a complex artistic composition in paperoles technique laid on a purple velvet background. The composition encloses and organizes twelve relics of the Holy Apostles, each identified by the respective Latin cartouche bearing the Saint's name. The back is closed by red threads crossed and sealed with a cardinal seal in dark red sealing wax. Dimensions: 12 x 8 x 1.3 cm The reliquary contains no human remains. Over time, some elements of the reliquary may have been modified or restored.
