Rare locality

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a rare Galena crystal on a Fluorite matrix with golden Pyrite from the Santa Lucia Mine in Fluminimaggiore, Sardinia. Moreover, it is characterized by the crisp cubic Galena crystal with a metallic luster, beautifully contrasted by the pristine Fluorite matrix and enriched by tiny inclusions of golden Pyrite, in a specimen from a rare provenance and with Fluorite that is commonly UV-reactive, which increases its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Galena is the primary lead ore (PbS) and crystallizes in the isometric system, often in clear cubes like the one seen on this specimen, also recognizable by its typical perfect cubic cleavage. The Fluminimaggiore mining district in Southern Sardinia is historically known for lead and zinc production and for the aesthetic quality of its Galena crystals on Fluorite. Fluorite (CaF2) owes its name to the Latin 'fluere' (to flow), due to its low melting point used as a flux in metallurgy, and its frequent fluorescence is due to trace activator elements such as europium within the crystal lattice. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also within the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best highlight colors and details; however, slight shade variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
