A superb example of a dressing psyche (or dressing-table mirror) that tilts, expression of high cabinetmaking and local artistic craftsmanship from the first half of the 19th century. The piece stands out for its rigorous and monumental aesthetics, typical of Neoclassical taste and the subsequent transition toward the Biedermeier style, where geometric harmony dialogues with the majesty of the natural wood grain. The work testifies to a construction technique of extraordinary artisanal skill, discernible in the following prized elements: * Ornate Octagonal Frame: The mirror light is enclosed by a majestic octagonal frame with a triple order of moulding, an architectural element that provides depth and geometric rigor to the structure. * Twisted Column-like Uprights: The dressing mirror is suspended on two side shafts shaped like turned and tapered columns, topped by cusped points (acroteri) carved in the solid, which ensure structural stability and vertical thrust. * Wavy Base with Sinous Profile: The lower body presents an elegantly shaped front with broken and convex lines, enriched by a hidden drawer with an antique knob, designed to preserve the visual continuity of the grain. * Flattened Onion Feet: The entire structure rests on elegant turned supports, a classic structural and decorative detail of 19th-century cabinetmaking. * Burl Veneer and Mirror Finish: The choice of burl and feather (figured) veneer, arranged in a bookmatched manner, creates a natural design of striking visual impact, highlighted by the gloss of the finish.
