This painting presents an extensive meadow covered with flowers, viewed under a wide and cloudy sky. In the foreground, red flowers dominate the scene and blend with small touches of yellow, white, blue, and violet, creating a tapestry of colors that seems to extend to the horizon. Green stems and leaves peek through among them, adding freshness and variety to the composition. The view conveys a sense of abundance and breadth, as if the observer were facing a field in full bloom that opens toward a distant landscape. As the gaze moves toward the center, the field transforms into a succession of horizontal bands of different colors. Reddish and ochre zones are distinguished, others in greens and yellows, and several lighter bands that could suggest paths between crops or changes in vegetation. These divisions add depth and make the landscape seem to extend across different terrains. The lines of the field guide the eye toward the trees and the small buildings scattered on the horizon. The abundance of flowers is the most striking element of the composition. The reddish shapes evoke poppies, while yellow, blue and violet patches introduce variations that prevent the field from feeling uniform. Some flowers appear more defined at the bottom; others become little colored dots as they recede. This difference in scale reinforces the sense of distance and helps perceive the vastness of the meadow. The green of the stems and leaves unites the different tones and gives cohesion to the foreground. On the horizon, a line of trees and low vegetation is visible, interrupted by small buildings or houses whose reddish roofs are barely discernible. Behind them, the sky occupies a considerable part of the scene and shows a combination of blues, grays, and whites. The clouds stretch in soft layers, with gaps that allow diffused light to pass over the field. The contrast between the fresh sky and the warm tones of the flowers creates a balanced atmosphere, with a sense of a bright yet overcast day. Overall, the painting offers a panorama of a flowering field that extends to a rural horizon, under a wide and changing sky. The profusion of reds and other colors in the foreground contrasts with the orderly bands of the fields and with the calm of the clouds. The eye travels across the work from the nearby flowers to the trees and distant buildings, gradually discovering the depth of the landscape. It is an image full of life and color that evokes the simple beauty of nature in full bloom.
