Ralf Altrieth - On ne va pas chercher plus loin - XXL

Ralf Altrieth draws and paints here with great spontaneity. The forms are deliberately simple, the outlines direct, the colors bold, as if the figures had been discovered rather than invented. Behind this apparent simplicity hides, however, a true sense of rhythm: the figures respond to one another, overlap, or seem to float around one another. The imaginary figures give the whole a poetic, almost dreamlike dimension. There is something joyful and slightly offbeat in the composition, which leaves the viewer with a great freedom of interpretation. The work thus exudes a particularly warm presence. It attracts with its colors and its immediately recognizable figures, then holds the viewer's gaze with its inventiveness and its small details. In a contemporary interior, they bring a free, playful, and poetic artistic note, without ever losing the singular gesture of Ralf Altrieth. From the crucible of improvisation he brings forth an intact world made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses." — Dr Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director "His writing by gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted.
