Todas las subastas / Arte contemporáneo / Ralf Altrieth - Maintenant ou jamais - XXL
At first glance, this painting seems to tell its own world: fantastic animals, flowers, stars and signs mingle in a free, imaginative composition with an expressiveness that is almost instantly endearing. Ralf Altrieth draws and paints here with great spontaneity. The shapes are deliberately simple, the outlines direct, the colors bold, as if the figures had been discovered rather than invented. Behind this apparent simplicity lies, however, a real sense of rhythm: the figures respond to each other, overlap, or seem to float around one another. The moon, the stars, the flowers and the imaginary animals lend the whole a poetic, almost dreamlike dimension. There is something joyful and slightly offbeat in the composition, which gives the spectator a great freedom of interpretation. The work thus radiates a particularly warm presence. It attracts with its colors and immediately recognizable shapes, then holds the eye with its inventiveness and its small details. In a contemporary interior, it brings a note of artistic freedom, playfulness and poetry, without ever losing the singular gesture of Ralf Altrieth. From the crucible of improvisation, he brings forth a pristine world made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses." — Dr Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director "His gestural and color writing describes a world opened to new voices and experiments never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene." — Laurent Puech, art historian and curator MARGINS: The indicated dimensions correspond to the artwork mounted on a frame.
