Product catalogue

Offered an original Dinky Toys catalog from around 1960. This catalog was produced for the Dutch market and was sold at Vroom & Dreesmann. It is a particularly nostalgic piece from the golden years of Dinky Toys’ metal toy history. The colorful front cover shows three characteristic miniature vehicles from Dinky Toys’ range: a blue American passenger car, a red off-road vehicle with driver, and a red truck with a trailer. At the top sits the iconic red Dinky Toys logo, below which are the name and address of Vroom & Dreesmann at Lange Viestraat 8 in Utrecht. The 25-cent price label gives the booklet an extra authentic and historical character. The back features the Dutch text 'Het gebaar van de kenner' (The gesture of the connoisseur), in which Dinky Toys encourages collectors to check, upon purchase, that the brand name Dinky Toys is printed on the underside of a miniature model. It also advertises the Dinky Toys Club Nederland, with its former secretary’s address at Kroomboomsloot 57-61 in Amsterdam-Centrum. The catalog was produced by Meccano Ltd. of Liverpool and Meccano (France) Limited of Bobigny. The note 'Printed in Belgium' further provides insight into the international production and distribution of these historical toy catalogs. Dinky Toys, part of the British Meccano tradition, grew in the 1950s and 1960s into a household name among children and collectors. The detailed metal miniature vehicles were highly popular at the time and formed the basis of many children’s first toy car collections. Condition: original vintage condition, with visible light patina and signs of use. See the photos for an accurate impression of the state. There is no writing or coloring on this catalog. This lot is neatly packaged and worldwide shipped via PostNL through the Catawiki shipping service."
