Precious Pendant Brooch With Diamonds & Pearl in "Retro Style" From

Some jewellery is more versatile to wear than others. The precious piece here is a fine example of this. Because it is at the same time a brooch, a pendant and a necklace! The platinum showpiece, which sets a large, shimmering blue-gray pearl and more than five carats of diamonds, is designed as an elongated frame. An elegant moving ribbon and small laurel leaves are placed inside the frame. It looks like a big bow of shimmering light. A frame with a pin, which can be inserted on the back, turns the design into a brooch. Without the frame, two hidden bows on the narrow side of the design offer the possibility of using the jewellery as a pendant. And an enclosed wide chain with additional diamonds turns the jewellery into a necklace. The showpiece with its brooch was made in Salzburg in the 1950s. This is revealed by the cuts of the diamonds and the hallmarks of the brooching. However, the fact that the cool colours of the design and the precise craftsmanship are still clearly reminiscent of the Art Deco of the pre-war period is no coincidence. The design develops the most popular decorative form of Art Deco, the rectangular plaque, with a wink. The form is dissolved and twisted in itself, the flat designs of the pre-war period have been replaced by an airy, light elegance. The chain of high-carat white gold, which can be hooked into the eyelets of the pendant, is set with more diamonds. However, these are old European cut stones that are older than the pendant itself. They probably originate from another context and were reused here. The necklace was probably created one generation after the showpiece and exactly for this purpose: Therefore, the necklace complements the pendant quite wonderfully.
