Precious Art Deco Brooch With 3.56 ct Diamonds, Germany c. 1930

This diamond brooch, created in the heyday of Art Deco, is voluminous and magnificent: a flat, openwork shield shape is set tightly with diamonds. Numerous such designs were created in those years for the upper classes, because a lady's evening dress was only really complete with a precious brooch. Our piece, which presents a large diamond of about 0.38 ct in the center, features 158 white diamonds in different cuts. A total of 3.56 ct diamonds shine in glistening light. All the gemstones are set in delicately yet solidly crafted platinum, so that the metal appears almost invisible and pure diamond brilliance delights us. Finely sawn shadow gaps and the use of so-called milgrains, with which the remaining platinum surface is broken into literally thousands of small areas, create a play of light and shadow. The interplay of all elements creates a wonderful yet wearable piece of Art Deco craftsmanship that can become a statement piece for any festive outfit. The brooch came to us from Hamburg.
