Circulation coin of the Portuguese Republic issued during the Estado Novo period, belonging to the well-known maritime-themed commemorative series. The obverse presents a sailing caravel with sails spread, moving over the sea, a direct symbol of Portugal’s naval and exploratory tradition, with a dynamic design and very well balanced. The reverse shows the national shield superimposed on the armillary sphere, a historical element deeply linked to Portuguese identity, with excellent relief definition and very clean fields.
