Porcelaine de Paris - Figurine - Corbeille ajourée en...

Elegant and large openwork oval basket (basket) or fine porcelain centerpieces, featuring a rich hand-painted polychrome decor depicting floral bouquets and natural-flower sprays of great delicacy. The exterior wall of the basket bears a magnificent molded relief imitating wickerwork and braided rattan. The upper festooned rim as well as the twin twisted fixed handles are richly adorned with a frieze of garlands of flowers and leaves in relief, meticulously applied by hand (barbotine technique). The borders and the twisted base are delicately enhanced with fine gold fillets. This piece is part of the great tradition of “Paris Porcelain” of the 19th century. It comes from the famous Parisian workshops of Eugène-Marx Clauss (active 1869–1887), a historically renowned manufactury that specialized in bravely reinterpreting complex-form pieces, with Neo-Rococo and naturalist inspiration. Marks and identification: Main mark: Presence on the back of the blue underglaze mark depicting “two crossed arrows with dots.” This characteristic mark was registered and used by the Clauss workshop to sign its exceptional productions. Additional marks: Model or decor number 441 hand-painted in red, typical of the records of Parisian decoration workshops of the period. A remarkable display piece, bearing witness to the technical refinement and excellence of Parisian porcelain makers at the end of the 19th century. Condition: Excellent overall state of preservation, exceptional for a porcelain piece of such fragility and age. The floral paintings and the fine gold gilding are remarkably fresh. No chips, no structural cracks. For the sake of complete transparency and honesty, note on the rim: * One minor older restoration or a momentary material shift on a petal (Zone 1). * A micro-edge loss from use on a rosebud (Zone 2). These minuscule details are practically invisible amidst the abundant relief decoration and do not in any way diminish the superb aesthetic quality of this display and collection piece. A royal gift idea!
