"Caterpillar" is a work that belongs to the Yellow series. It was created in acrylic paint and pastels on a page from a 1970s erotic magazine. It measures 27 cm high by 19 cm wide. It is signed at the bottom left as well as on the back with the title and date of execution. It comes with a certificate of authenticity attached to the shipment. Its overall condition is perfect. This paper work is shipped properly protected in a cardboard envelope. Who is Pier? Son of parents working abroad, Pier, also known as Pierre Sullice, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It was during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to the friendship of his son-in-law, that he discovered Oswaldo Guayasamín’s work and awakened to the plastic arts. From that day forward, he has been deeply passionate about painting, especially modern and contemporary. After studying modern literature and philosophy, Pier joined Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting through a mentally disabled man. Titled “The Transparent Woods,” the screenplay won the Cent Premières œuvres, a competition organized by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and was awarded at numerous festivals. Never abandoning writing, reading and audiovisual animation, Pier continues to explore the visual arts, creating numerous collages inspired by children’s drawings. In 2023, after ending his journey in audiovisual work, he settled in the Gard region to devote himself exclusively to painting. Thriving in his studio in Lecques, Pier broadens his pictorial research by using recycled paper supports or decorative canvases on a wooden frame through acrylic paint, markers or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns with an Art Brut and Cobra current that owes as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Lindström. By mixing spontaneity and humor, he weaves a personal path that leads to a florilege of characters at once surprising and endearing.
