A rare and beautifully detailed antique silver perfume or scent bottle (scent bottle / chatelaine flacon) in the shape of a heart. This type of silverware comes from the Caucasus (Imperial Russia), a region world-famous for its exceptional niello craftsmanship (blackening technique). On the front, the bottle is richly decorated with typical traditional floral arabesques and tendrils in niello, with a central diagonal banderole in which Cyrillic script "КАВКАЗ" (Kavkaz / Caucasus) is engraved. Additionally there is a cartouche (empty / not engraved). The back is likewise lavishly decorated with symmetric scrollwork and interlacing in niello. The bottle is equipped with the original screw- or push-in cap with chain attachment, which historically allowed it to be worn on a chatelaine, chain, or belt. On the neck are hallmarks, including a recognizable oval silver hallmark and master mark/hallmark.
