Paul Ceulemans (1884-1955) - Licht - Zon en Donker Spel...

Paul Ceulemans is an artist who lived in Kalmthout and during the 1930s produced numerous drawings there, in which he not only documented in great detail the topographical location of his view of the Kalmthouts Heath, but also paid much attention to the light and weather conditions. Some of his works lean toward Expressionism, others—like this one—are more conceived in the spirit of Impressionism. An exhibition on the oeuvre of Paul Ceulemans and his brother Hendrik Ceulemans was organized in 2017 in the Arboretum of Kalmthout.
