part of a house or door panel - Aso - Iban Dayak - Indonesia

Iban Dayak part of chiefs house wall or door Country: Indonesia, Kalimantan (Borneo) Island: Kalimantan (Borneo) Tribe: Dayak people Origin: bought from an antique dealer in Yogja Lifespan: around 1850 Material: ULIN wood (hardwood) with a beautiful patina Dimensions: 33x18x6 cm (on stand height 40 cm / included) UNIQUE item, part of an old Dayak house depicting a mythical figure. This piece is carved from a single piece of wood, very heavy local hardwood of more than 3.3 KG (!!!). It shows one of the most famous traditional motifs of the Dayak. Although this piece shows signs of drying cracks, the incised decoration is incredibly rich. The patina, indicating its considerable age, combined with the elegant design, makes it a very interesting ethnographic object. I have sold similar items before, but never so old and never so beautiful! If you look at the photos, you can see the patina and the condition of the old ulin wood, which ensures originality and age. A beautiful collector’s item / museum piece. It comes with a custom-made iron stand on which the sculpture reaches a height of 40 cm. • The items are carefully combined and shipped on the same day at most with PostNL (including tracking information) • The tracking is updated on your Catawiki account as soon as your parcel has been delivered.
