A0000005769 VINTAGE MONTBLANC WRITING SET 225 (GERMANY, 1970s): We present at auction a superb Montblanc writing ensemble that perfectly encapsulates German industrial design from the 1970s. Departing from the classic polished resins and gilding of the Meisterstück line, the 225 series opted for Bauhaus-influenced minimalism, creating work instruments that are sturdy, sober, and of impeccable technical quality. The set consists of a fountain pen and its matching rollerball. Both instruments feature bodies made of a special black resin with longitudinal brushing (Makrolon style), offering a warm, matte texture that is highly resistant to scratches. The caps are made of brushed stainless steel, topped with the iconic Montblanc white star. Individual features: Fountain Pen (225): Equipped with an integrated piston feed system. It carries a fabulous 14-karat white gold semi-nib (585 seal), designed to provide smooth writing and protect the ink from evaporation. Rollerball (285/225): Incorporates Montblanc’s ingenious and characteristic mechanism from the 70s: the nib is actuated by pressing the clip downward (lever-clip mechanism). Condition (Expert Review) Prospective bidders are asked to carefully examine the photo gallery. The set is in an honest and very good vintage condition: Bodies and Caps: The brushed steel is in very good condition. The textured black resin shows light wear and areas where the brushing has softened from historical use (creating slight shines typical of natural wear on this material), but there are no cracks or breaks. Nib: The 14K white gold nib is pristine, with the tines properly aligned. Mechanics: The fountain pen piston turns and the rollerball clip mechanism works perfectly. (Expert note: It is sold as is, without original case. The rollerball may require a new ink refill. For the fountain pen, since it is an old piston system, a preliminary rinse with water is recommended).
