Paolo De Matteis (1662-1728)

Up for auction, an exceptional ancient painting in a contemporaneous wooden frame with gold leaf, most probably by Paolo De Matteis. The oil painting on canvas is in excellent condition and was professionally cleaned 5 years ago. Frame in perfect conservation state with gold leaf. The painting has been viewed by antique dealers and experts who regard its validity. It was also examined by Mina Gregori, who said it is a very beautiful oil. Paolo De Matteis (Piano Vetrale, February 9, 1662[1] – Naples, July 26, 1728) was an Italian painter, one of the most representative figures of the Baroque period in the Kingdom of Naples.
