Castor and Pollux Year: 2026 (engraved on the base) Technique: Polychrome terracotta, green bronze patina Style: Metaphysical Unique piece Description Polychrome terracotta sculpture - "Castor and Pollux" - Architectural Totem incorporating classical and metaphysical elements Description for the Lot Card Description of the work: A vertical totemic sculpture developed in polychrome terracotta with a green bronze patina. The piece is organized around a three-register architectural structure, inspired by the iconography of the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux), reinterpreted through geometric and symbolic forms of metaphysical and classical taste. Structure analysis: • Upper register (Vertex): Figurine with an oval head and ribbed drapery, topped by a small classical-inspired temple. • Central register: Two twin niches housing the acephalous torsos of the Dioscuri, depicted as essential archetypes and suspended. • Lower register: Romanesque-classical arch containing an inscribed shield, symbolic attribute of the two twins. Technical details and materials: • Type: Ground sculpture / pedestal sculpture • Material: Polychrome terracotta • Finish: Green bronze patina • Style/Subject: Metaphysical painting and sculpture, mythological subject • . On the sides of the trunk there are alchemical inscriptions: the symbol of Saturn (lead, time, transformation of matter) and the globe crocigero/Antimony (raw material, mastery of spirit over matter). These signs elevate the work to an alchemical, hermetic object where the myth of the Dioscuri — one mortal, the other immortal — becomes a metaphor for the alchemical duality between matter and spirit, visible and invisible. Material and Technique Made in terracotta, the sculpture features a complex surface treatment rich in texture and hand-carved grooves. The polychrome finish is distinguished by a sophisticated deep green patina that simulates the natural oxidation of ancient bronze, giving the artifact an aura of antiquity and museum-like solemnity. Condition and Details • Condition: Excellent preservation state, free of chips or structural cracks. • Title: "Castor and Pollux" incised in relief on the supporting base. • Author: Paolo Camporese • Height 46 cm, depth 10 cm, width 10 cm. • Weight 2 kg • The sculpture is accompanied by an authenticity certificate Curriculum vitae Paolo Camporese, lives and works in Padua and for several years has dedicated himself to sculpture; the material he mainly uses is terracotta.
