An interesting vintage exemplar belonging to Panini’s historic collections dedicated to major international competitions, particularly appreciated by football sticker enthusiasts. All pages have been photographed to show the stickers inside. Album features Title: Euro 88 – European Championship Publisher: Edizioni Panini, Modena Year: 1988 Type: original football sticker album Edition: international, with texts in several languages Competition: UEFA European Championship 1988 Condition: incomplete album, stickers applied Album contents The collection is dedicated to the eight national teams participating in the final tournament of the 1988 European Championship and includes sections related to the teams, the players, the qualification results, and the history of the competition. From the photographs, several inner pages are visible with original Panini stickers already applied, including those dedicated to the national teams of Ireland and the Netherlands. The album also features pages with still-empty spaces, confirming its incomplete nature. There are also era advertising inserts related to Derby promotions, testimony to the Italian distribution of the collection. The original cover depicts the stadium, the flags of the participating nations, the official Euro 88 logo, and the famous mascot Berni, with the classic Panini mark. Historical context The 1988 European Championship represents one of the tournament’s most famous editions, concluded with the Netherlands’ victory, led by Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard. The final, played against the Soviet Union, is remembered especially for Marco van Basten’s spectacular volley. The album therefore stands as a testament to European football of the Eighties and to one of the most iconic generations in the competition’s history. Preservation conditions Original vintage album, used condition, with signs of time and handling. The cover shows slight creases, wear along the edges and corners, small superficial marks, and light abrasions. The spine shows signs of use, but from the photographs it appears still firmly attached to the album.
