Circa 1802-1819, stamped "E. Thomas" within a rectangle, featuring rounded ends, and an elongated shaft, faint period "S" monogram. Each 9 1/2 in. 4.95 total troy oz. From the Estate of the Late Susan H. Ehringhaus, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Ebenezer Thomas was born in 1776, in Norwich, Connecticut. By 1798 he was established in Petersburg, Virginia, where he worked as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker until 1812. From 1813 to 1819, he was in partnership with John Bennett under the firm Bennett & Thomas, after which he resumed working independently in Petersburg until 1823. That year, Thomas relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where he continued his trade as a silversmith, jeweler, and watchmaker through approximately 1833. Wear to the spoon tips, a few minor dents to the bowls, rubbing to the monograms.
