A pair of lacquered carved wood busts of Sphinxes, after a design by Thomas Hope, c. 1810. The busts, finely carved as the heads of Sphinxes, each wearing a gilt wood, winged headdress, lacquered to simulate bronze, upon squared and gilded bases. Set upon grey marble bases.
