Picasso's concise animal subjects belong to the most charming examples of his playful drawing. With a few precise lines, the artist manages to capture movement, character and expression in an impressive way. The piece convinces with its reduced, expressive linework and a direct, lively imagery. It is precisely the animal subjects from this phase that possess their own character and clearly distinguish themselves from later, heavily abstracted works.
