Overmantel mirror - Wood, mirror

French Louis Philippe-style gilded mirror Large rectangular fireplace mirror with rounded upper corners, featuring a wooden frame and gilded stucco in relief with scrolling foliage and pearl motifs. The wooden back, hollow of sorts, bears an oval stamp “ARGENTURE PERFECTIONNÉE 1 MAR. 99”. This inscription corresponds to a silvering or re-silvering operation. The gilding shows wear and localized alterations. Small chippings and cracks are visible on the stucco. The mirror has a few very light pits.
