Oscar Liedel - The War and the Occupation, seen by Oscar Liedel - 30 color plates by Oscar Liedel, in a rigid cardboard box - Brussels, Les Éditions J. Rozez sa, 1947 - original edition – 6 pages of text and 30 color plates mounted on paper (size 56x38 cm). The first page presents a description of the color plate mounted on the third page. Binding: rigid cardboard box with a opening ribbon, with spine printed in red – 29.50x39.50 cm (box) / 28x38 cm (plates). Very good copy: the contents of the box are in excellent condition and clean, the box shows signs of wear and use (mainly on the edges of the spine). * Oscar Liedel (born circa 1879, date of death unknown but after 1947) was a Belgian Jewish journalist active in Brussels during World War II; he is described as having taken part in resistance activities. During the Occupation, he produced a series of political cartoons in which he depicted the German occupiers with finesse and satire. He published these drawings in a collection in 1947. (Source: Hessink Auctioneers/Lauritz)) * Preface: Richard Dupierreux (1891-1957) was a man of letters, journalist, art and theatre critic, Belgian. He notably spent twenty years as a journalist and director of artistic and theatrical services of the newspaper Le Soir. * Note: The 30 color plates are mounted on a thick ochre-colored sheet of paper folded in half, measuring 56 cm in width (2 x 28 cm) and 38 cm in height.
