East Asia, China, ca. mid-20th century CE. A nickel-brass inkwell of square form fitted with colorful enamel inlay panels depicting floral motifs within geometric borders, the vessel topped by a domed lid accented with an ornate collar and a blue finial handle. The finial element is a man-made enamel or glassy composite designed to resemble a turquoise nugget.
