Large round solid mahogany antique coffee table, 130 cm The tabletop is smoothly polished to a high gloss and undamaged. Biedermeier style (often referred to as William IV or early 19th-century style). Top: A large, round mahogany (veneer) tabletop. Base: A sturdy central column (pillar foot) resting on a three-footed base. Feet: Three outward-extending legs, finished with graceful carved scroll-work in the form of scroll feet or lion's claws. Impressive round coffee table with a 130 cm diameter top. The heavy, hand-carved base makes this table truly distinctive: an octagonal column on a round profiled foot, standing on a triangular platform with indented sides and three finely carved volute legs with an acanthus leaf motif. The table is nineteenth-century, Late Empire style, about 1820–1850. The base was lowered at a later stage to coffee-table height — quite common for this type of table. This gives you now a coffee table with the quality and woodcarving of an old, sturdy piece of furniture. Dimensions: Top diameter: 130 cm Height: 55 cm Condition: good, with the signs of wear typical for an item of this age. The top is intact. In the side moulding there are a few light veneer spots, see photos. Everything is sturdy and stable. Because of its size, the table looks best in a spacious living room or near a large seating area.
