Description It is autumn of 1973. In a quiet workshop in Biel, an Omega watchmaker places the finishing pieces into a brand-new De Ville. He slides the ultra-thin, hand-wound Caliber 625 into a compact rectangular case measuring 23 by 27 millimeters. The case, plated to a depth of 20 microns, is built to withstand generations. The true masterpiece is the champagne Harlequin dial. This rare mosaic dances with light at every flick of the wrist, weaving an array of warm golden tones that change with movement. Bearing serial number 379395**, this De Ville leaves the factory and begins a journey that will span more than fifty years. Today, after thousands of days and countless moments, the mechanical heart still beats with steady resolve. The case is fitted with a supple new leather strap, yet the proud original Omega clasp from 1973 remains at the end. Wind the crown gently and you don’t just start a watch you awaken a tangible piece of time’s history on your wrist. History The De Ville line split from the Seamaster family in the 1960s to become a distinct collection known for elegant, dress-oriented designs and refined movements. By the early 1970s Omega focused on slim profiles and classical aesthetics; the De Ville rectangulars of this era often housed slender manual calibers like the Caliber 625. These watches were crafted for understated luxury delicate cases, precious metal finishes, and distinctive dials such as the rare Harlequin pattern found here. This example, untouched in spirit and maintained mechanically, is a clear representation of Omega’s 1970s approach: craftsmanship, longevity, and timeless style.
