We propose a splendid and exclusive lot of two iconic analog telephones with outstanding design: an Olivetti Miram 100 and a Siemens Grillo Telephone. The lot comprises two pieces of notable interest in exceptional condition. 1. Olivetti Miram 100 | Design by George Sowden, 1990 The lot includes a refined fixed-line phone model Olivetti Miram 100, a true iconic piece of postmodern industrial design designed in 1988 by the renowned British designer George Sowden (co-founder of the legendary Memphis Group together with Ettore Sottsass) with the collaboration of Simon Morgan. This specimen, approved on June 13, 1990 with serial number 058254 and manufactured in Spain by Amper S.A. for Olivetti, perfectly represents the brand philosophy of Ivrea, able to combine high technology and aesthetic avant-garde. The Miram 100’s design stands out for its clean, geometric lines, the horizontally positioned handset, and the unmistakable keypad with bright yellow numbers on gray round keys. Here in the less common, and more rare, gray colorway with yellow numbers and a green pushbutton. Today an identical model is on display in the permanent collection of the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia in Milan. The condition is excellent, thanks to superb overall aesthetics. The plastics appear glossy, clean, and retain their original coloration without the typical yellowing of time. The black coiled cord is intact and flexible. The key legends are sharp and free of abrasions. The Olivetti Miram 100 is not a phone merely to perform its function; rather, it is a piece that decorates and draws attention to itself. A particularly rare product since, at the time, it was distributed in limited quantities, and today it is not easy to find. Perfect for collectors, design lovers, and Olivetti enthusiasts. 2. Siemens Grillo Telephone | Design by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper, 1967 Joining the Miram 100 is an absolute milestone of Italian industrial design: the iconic Grillo Telephone, designed in 1965 by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper and produced by Siemens starting in 1967. Winner of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 1967 and on permanent display in the MoMA collection in New York. This specimen is presented in exceptional condition, ideal for a discerning collector. The original flip-open mechanism remains fluid and fully functional. The housing, made of ABS, is glossy and free of scratches or cracks and shows a uniform patina. The cord is the original one, perfectly intact and still very soft to the touch, a sign of excellent preservation away from heat sources or direct sunlight. This Grillo Telephone is fully functional with the switchboard disk also working and free of jams. The entire phone has been thoroughly cleaned and is presented in excellent condition. A piece of history that revolutionized the ergonomics of the telephone. For connoisseurs, enthusiasts, and collectors. Perfect for display, and still usable today. The lot represents a unique opportunity to acquire a set that is a true time capsule, preserved impeccably. Absolutely unmissable for enthusiasts and fans of analog telephony and great design.
