O1– A porcelain okimono of fine craftsmanship in ivory color depicting a farmer with a basket of fruit, with facial features rendered with incredible precision, despite the small size of the artifact; the painted eyes seem alive. Okimono were particularly widespread during the Meiji period. They were placed in a small niche in the main living area of the traditional house beside floral decorations to bring harmony to the home. Dimensions 10H x 4 cm.
