A oil on wood panel genre scene depicting three figures in Victorian attire seated at a table outdoors under a canopy of trees. The work is executed in a late 19th-century style characterized by dappled light and impressionistic brushwork. Signed in the lower left in reddish-brown paint T. Hill followed by a curved underline. The verso of the wood panel features a small color print of a postcard featuring Thomas Hill's painting Summer Afternoon, from Trisdonn Gallery, Nyack, NY, postmarked May 22, 1982, which provides biographical information for the artist. Housed in a triple-layered frame comprising a dark wood outer molding, a wide light-blue painted cove, and a gilded inner fillet. Sight size: 12.5"W x 7"H.
